BT scores £100m European Parliament deal

BT has begun supplying €120m worth of networked IT kit, software and services to the European Parliament under a five-year agreement, the company said on Tuesday.The deal, worth £100m at current exchange rates, involves two framework contracts that have seen BT Global Services take over the provision of IP telephony, unified communications, videoconferencing, telepresence, security and internet access services at the parliament's Brussels, Luxembourg and Strasbourg sites.

EMC pulls Hadoop into Greenplum analytics

EMC has wrapped Hadoop into its Greenplum analytics software to create a platform for analysing structured and unstructured data.The Greenplum Unified Analytics Platform (UAP), announced by EMC on Thursday and due for general availability in the first quarter of 2012, mixes the Greenplum database with Hadoop technology from MapR and a social network built for analytics.

NXP to release open-source 'internet of things' code

NXP Semiconductors has announced that it will release the source code that underpins its low-power wireless networking software that enables 'smart' connectivity and device-to-device communication.The JenNet-IP software — which is a part of the company's smart lighting products, announced on Monday — will be available under an open-source licence in Q4 2011, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.
