Cisco targets small businesses

Cisco is expected to announce a unified communications suite for very small businesses, called Smart Business Communications Systems (SBCS), on Tuesday at its Worldwide Partner Summit in Las Vegas.Although the networking giant has been pushing into the small-business market for some years now, the SBCS range marks the first time it has specifically targeted its efforts at businesses with as few as five to eight employees.

Internet name body set for landmark vote this week

LONDON (Reuters) - The organization that oversees the Internet's vast domain-name system is looking to face down grass-roots protesters at its annual meeting in Bucharest this week as it tries to gain greater government-level acceptance. Starting on Wednesday in the Romanian capital, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) will chart its future, one that could see individual Net users getting squeezed out in favor of politicians and businessmen.
