I was traveling the eastern seaboard all of last week, visiting family, friends, and old work colleagues in Philadelphia, New York, and Boston, so I didn't have much opportunity to provide feedback to what had become the most heavily discussed blog post I have yet generated.Two weeks ago, people got all hot and bothered because Apple appeared to have posted and retracted a recommendation that people run anti-virus software on their Mac.

Apple removes anti-virus recommendation

On November 21 the blogosphere was abuzz when Apple updated a technical note on its Support Web site that saysApple encourages the widespread use of multiple antivirus utilities so that virus programmers have more than one application to circumvent, thus making the whole virus writing process more difficult.Virus software manufacturer Intego quickly jumped on the bandwagon and promoted the fact that their VirusBarrier X5 software was recommended by Apple.
