Singapore--Google Enterprise will be placing less emphasis on the Singapore market, with its public relations effort now concentrated out of Australia. There is also no longer a dedicated PR executive for its enterprise business in Singapore.
ZDNet understands from an industry source (who declined to be named) that Google Enterprise has "downplayed" its Singapore business, although no details were given as to how much the Web giant will scale back such operations in the city-state.
In October 2010, Google trumpeted its partnership with Singapore telco SingTel as a blueprint for the Web company to attract more operators in the region to act as resellers for the Google Apps productivity suite. Doug Farber, managing director for Google's Asia-Pacific enterprise division, said at the time that it had partnered with SingTel to offer its e-mail, Web site creation and management, and calendar tools via the telco's OneOffice bundled package of managed services.
One notable Singapore customer that Google's enterprise team had won over was real estate agency, HSR International Realtors. HSR said it chose to migrate to Google Apps to achieve better cost savings and business agility, and deliver relevant information in a timely fashion to its mobile sales staff.
Lacking PR presence
The source also confirmed that the previous Singapore-based Google Enterprise public relations executive, Roli Agarwal, had left her position "for quite some time" and there had not been a replacement since.
Instead, Libby Leahy, who is based in Google's Australia office, is now the point of contact for the company's enterprise efforts in Asia-Pacific, the source said. Leahy's profile on professional networking site LinkedIn states that she joined the Internet giant in September 2012.
When contacted, Google declined to issue a statement regarding these developments.
