SingTel will compensate home customers who had their access to broadband, phone and pay TV services disrupted for days following last week's fire at one of its network exchanges.

SingTel offers compensation to customers hit by fire-related outage.

For the 60,000 home broadband service customers, the Singapore telco will give them a free speed boost for the next three months, according to the Straits Times on Monday. For example, those on a 200Mps plan will be upgraded to 300Mbps.

MioTV customers will receive one month of free access to all channels, while fixed voice line users will get one month's worth of local calls free.

SingTel will reach out to corporate customers individually to discuss their compensation packages, said the newspaper.

Last week's fire at Bukit Panjang exchange had disrupted SingTel's services. Those leasing its lines were also hit, such as rival telcos M1 and StarHub, and banks.
Investigations into the cause of the fire are still ongoing. An internal board of inquiry will be working with local industry regulator, Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA), to "review the robustness of our systems and minimize the impact of such accidents in future".
