Data mining and analytics startup Knorex is hoping to shake up the mobile advertising scene with its Snap2Tell mobile imaging technology.
CEO Justin Choo told ZDNet Asia it had developed a mobile application that allows users to access interactive content such as videos, photo galleries and even downloadable discount coupons via augmented reality.
This gives advertisers a new way of engaging with audiences, especially since the media industry is always looking for new ways to generate revenue, he said.
The application also works on text-based content to give users a different experience when reading, Choo said.
Asked how the imaging technology is different from QR codes, the CEO said Snap2Tell is able to recognizes images in different formats and on various platforms including billboards and notice boards. It is also not limited by distance to detect an image, which is not the case with QR codes, he added.
