Some Thai Twitter users go Gaga for fake controversy

Bangkok, Thailand, is a place famous for fake goods, fake ladies, and is recently making the headlines with fake drama.

Lady Gaga, who's been having her share of troubles in tour locations across Southeast Asia, has arrived to perform to a soldout crowd in Bangkok and true to her character, she's making a memorable entrance.

But what's being talked about more than the skin-tight, full body leather suit she wore in the Bangkok heat?

How about the tweet she sent when she arrived in Bangkok which read: "I just landed in Bangkok baby! Ready for 50,000 screaming Thai monsters. I wanna get lost in a lady market and buy fake Rolex."

A few people took offense, replying: "We are more civilized than you think." They're also taking to forums and Facebook to declare their rage.

Has the Queen of Twitter, who's on track to have over 25 million followers, really offended the entire nation of Thailand?

Will there be a noticeable boycott of her concert? Will Bangkok's protest-crazed citizens assemble in the streets and demand she apologizes?

No, but that's what the news headlines would have you to believe.

The quantifiable truth, however, is that there is still little anti-Gaga sentiment in Thailand despite the comments. According to her Twitter mentions, she is so well-loved that it would take more than a few painfully truthful and cliche tweets about Bangkok to qualify as backlash.

Consider on a slow day Lady Gaga's account gets around 7,000 twitter mentions. But of the 300 or more tweets per hour she's received since being in Thailand, they have been overwhelmingly positive (if also overwhelmingly stalker-like).

The negative tweets of offended fans don't even outnumber those volunteering information about where, "Mama Monster" as she's called, could go in Bangkok to fulfil all her urges to buy counterfeit goods.

Let's expect the superstar's performance in Thailand to overshadow a few Twitter tantrums and Facebook fits that currently reign the day.
