Sony covers Vaio laptop users against Nvidia faults

Sony is extending the warranty on certain Vaio laptops to cover repairs caused by faulty Nvidia graphics chips.

Only a small percentage of Vaio users experience difficulties, according to Sony in the US, which has provided a list of the problems and the Vaio models affected by the Nvidia faults.

Dell, HP and Apple have already announced schemes to cope with the faulty graphics chips. The problem emerged in July 2008, when Nvidia published a statement about the issues caused by certain materials used in making the chips.
