Sony finds Anonymous clue in Sony data breach
Summary: Following the hack that exposed millions of customer records, Sony has found a file on a server that contains a reference to the online activist group Anonymous
A Sony statement on the massive PlayStation data breach has revealed a clue that points to involvement from the activist group Anonymous.
Sony presented the statement after a US House of Representatives subcommittee meeting with Sony Computer Entertainment America chairman Kazuo Hirai. It gives some insight into the PlayStation hack that has so far exposed almost 100 million customer records.
Hirai said that Sony had discovered a file inside a Sony Online Entertainment server marked 'Anonymous'. The file carried the slogan of the activist group, "We are Legion". Anonymous has been linked to a number of distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks.
