Symantec denies blame after Chinese govt hacks The New York Times

After one of the world's most famous newspapers points the finger at Symantec for failing to protect its network against a four-month long Chinese cyberattack, the security firm returns fire.

Symantec just announced the appointment of Sheila Jordan as its new chief information officer.

Jordan is currently senior vice president of IT communications and collaboration at Cisco, where she has worked for nearly a decade.

Previous resume bullet points include leadership roles at The Walt Disney Company and construction supplies aggregate Martin Marietta.

Replacing Marty Hodgett, Jordan will join Symantec in her new role on February 18.

She will report to Symantec's chief operating officer, Stephen Gillett.

At Symantec, Jordan will be responsible for leading the security giant's IT strategy and operations on a global level.

Symantec also highlighted Jordan's experience with Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policies, which will likely play a big part in her agenda going forward.
