I've predicted (guessed?), that Microsoft would be making an OS that would provide compatibility across all form factors, including smartphones, tablets, netbooks, laptops and desktops.
I also predicted that, Microsoft would allow people to purchase Windows 8 (or whatever it will be called) licenses, whereby, a standard license accommodates one product, say a desktop/laptop, and then, for an additional small price, a second license (and a third and a fourth, etc) which would allow the OS to be used on a different gadget, say a smartphone or tablet, and with each form factor, the OS would automatically recognize the form-specific OS code to load, and would optimize that OS depending upon the features available in the gadget (desktop, laptop, netbook, tablet, smartphone).
It that's not what will immediately come out with the first iteration of Windows 8, I'm pretty sure it will occur with future releases of the "all-encompassing" OS.
