The world's biggest spyware is Facebook and by extension any facebook partners that buy data from facebook (eg. MS).
People who are worried about how much Google has on you because they know what you search for may want to prioritize their privacy concerns. Microsoft is the biggest concern here. Not only is their software at the heart of 90%+ of computers, they also are strong partners with most of the other companies on the internet that hold the most data (with the exception of Google of course). In addition to facebook, they are also strong partners with yahoo.
Think about it, Google may know what you search for (or not I've tried doing the same search on different computers and they come up the same so no reason to assume that they're using my personal info to adjust their search algorithm), Facebook (and by extension MS) knows who your friends are, your pictures, what you say to your friends, etc.
