@Joe_Raby My guess is they're still trying to figure that part out yet. Probably have to wait till Beta hits to find out.
My own personal opinion, MS should cut the legacy / compatibility cord for Win8 devices that run on the ARM architecture & leave the legacy / compatibility mode for the X86 architecture.
The time is now for MS to make a clean break with the past and there's no better way to do it than having Win8 run on a brand new architecture (ARM). Those who really need to run legacy software can buy Intel-based machines.
If they choose this route, hopefully MS will work hard on developing Metro-only versions of their apps and then slowly over time get rid of all legacy and have only a Metro-based UX on all devices.
