RE: What might SAP learn from Apple?
Glocalings.com Updated - 4th Jan
Dennis, as Vijay Pointed out in his blog, the crux that we should remember is that the main driver for all this change in Hardware. May I add to that , the acceptance of cloud is very important change that is changing the way Enterprise IT would work in future. It is not just the question of what SAP is doing with this, but also what others are doing with it.

Also in regard to Apple, I guess we are back to the old world really, where a company took responsibility of what it sold. Infact, even today, iPhone is sold by mobile service provider who often would not take responsibility to service it. So if your company has a solution which has 10 different layers of suppliers including SI's, Hardware vendor, Database vendor etc, the buck stops no-where; atleast for the smaller companies.

In my view therefore; if it becomes possible, people and enterprise prefer to buy an appliance for which one identifiable vendor is possible. With current hardware, it may become possible, atleast on cloud, for some companies to take this ownership. Those who do it, would win businesses of SME.
