The distinction between 2.x and 3.x doesn't say much at this point in the Android tablet market because you had a significant number of Android tablets released under 2.x and not Honeycomb. The original Galaxy Tab 7" released in late 2010 had 2.x on it. There were more than a million sold of those, at least.

The Xoom was the first to be released with 3.x and that was late February/early March. Galaxy Tab 10" in March, Transformer in April, and Thrive in June.

It's not a coincidence that Apple released the iPad 2 in the middle and late March even though it was a minimal upgrade. Apple saw the writing on the wall. Had Apple waited until the real iPad 2 was ready, aka iPad 3, they would have lost even more market share than they already have. Same resolution, cheap cameras and minimal changes was a joke on the "iPad 2."
