My guess is the event is sometime around June/July getting developers ready for the official launch of Windows 8. We'll probably see an RC released around then and specific info that has constantly eluded us will be hammered down.
Oh, and Microsoft will announce what we've known for years, the final name is Windows 8 (heck, they don't even use the word "codename" anymore, it's that obvious).
