Does History Not Repeat Itself

Over and over again, we have seen Microsoft saturate markets, working from the bottom rungs of those who can't afford, and raising the needed capital to choke those who are to superior for their own good. VMWare is no exception to the rule.

While the browser war was truly a fruitless battle, Microsoft has strong armed much stronger opponents with similar tactics. There so far is only one opponent in one industry that has managed to stave off Microsoft's onslaught. No, I am not talking about Linux in the server market, I am not talking about Apple in the PMP market. I am talking about Nintendo Wii who has so far managed to keep Microsoft at bay.

If VMWare is to take on Microsoft, they are going to have to stay ahead of the game in every way possible for as long as possible, and that includes some cut throat pricing.

While I thought I was a good republican, I am further more upset at Microsoft's Free to all virtualization software which is very much a direct assault on VMware and was the exact same motive that killed Netscape. I do believe that the DOJ does need to intervene and say, "Knock it off!"
