Beware of the $100 "rebate" when purchasing directly from AT&T. It is not actually a rebate, but a promotion card with limits on how it can be spent. And the hoops and risks you must go through to actually receive it are significant, the fine print even says rebates are "only available while supplies last". So it appears that the rebate payment is entirely optional on AT&T's part, no matter what you are promised up front.
