AMD is still behind but no longer by a mile. If AMD can cover that much ground quickly in what is characterized as a highly-optimized die shrink instead of a new architecture introduction, then Intel's got a fight in its hands all too unexpectedly.
Given the confluence of AMD's chipset and graphics knowledge acquired from ATI and its resurgence in CPU design, AMD's back in play at the same ballpark.
