I keep reading stories like this that purport to be insightful.
However, we've been talking about issues like this for (at
least) 25 years. Why is this?

Is it because the cycle of IT positions is rapid and people
don't remain in any position ling enough to see a strategy
through? Don't we share learning with those coming
through the ranks?

A recent report mentioned that CIOs are still not deemed to
be as close to the business as they should - something
else we've been discussing for 30 years or so.

Why doesn't the industry learn?? It's no longer a young
industry but it is dominated by young people: new
languages ... and so on. If the speed of change doesn't
allow deep learning, there needs to be another way.

Perhaps we could formalize mentors???
