These sites are problematic because they don't adhere to HTML standards and so MS is defaulting IE8 to "quirks" mode when you go to one of those sites. That's better for the consumer than having the site not render properly.

Stick to Firefox if you want (I know I'm going to) but at least do it for the right reasons. The reason you gave is just ridiculous to the extreme.
