They took a crappy FIAT then made a copy of it (same tooling?) and made it in a country with less technology than a rock and that was a great idea wasn't it? The Nano is a little too bare bones for the USA. Kick it up to a 1.3 4 cylinder with SOME quality and MAYBE they will do well here
