I understand users are also having to deal with memory shortages and slower performance as they keep adding apps. Artificially inflating prices by imposing a minimum $2.99 fee (if not free) doesn't help developers or users either.
Even though the (30+) apps I download for my iPhone don't work in the background, it still feels snappy and hasn't had any memory problems. I guess it's a trade-off iPhone users have to make.
