Sophistication vs Simplicity

Here is a new law for you:

"The more sophisticated our communications technology becomes, the less able we are to communicate".

Without going into all the wordy explanations of the preceding laws, take the practical example of the "your call is important to us...." answering services and the press 1 to ...., 2 to ...., etc. too many companies use. You can spend hours trying to get information that could be provided in one minute in a conversation with a live, knowledgeable receptionist.

These systems are probably the converse of Law 16, which i would paraphrase as "if it isn't convenient it won't be done except at the point of a gun.":).
