If social networking and resource constraints are the foundation of the new economy, then whoever controls those networks and the terms by which networks are formed will be in charge of this new world and its economy.
Capital will be dethroned. Materiel and manufactures will be merely ammunition for the coming conflict of what is important to which people for their social ends. With control of people and the way they interact the only real prize, capitalism shall be overthrown and a new system of controlling people, not goods or money, will prevail.
I expect to see this about the same time the United States officially condones enfeoffment, resurrecting it from its Tudor grave. All transactions, social, monetary, cultural and even spiritual will be defined by who you know and who you are allowed to know. Control of people will again be paramount, as it was in the First Dark Ages.
Time to re-learn how to properly pull your forelock when your new Master rides past.
