Did amazon themselves breakout their Kindle sales? If they didn't, that
means it's not selling well. If they did sell a million of them they
would've announced it, no? A million is the number that companies
like to brag about.
Even Microsoft couldn't wait to announce the 'millionth sale' of their
failed zune (though they were sitting in stockrooms and later in
bargain basement bins; microsoft was counting sales to Best Buy, etc,
not to consumers)
Kindle might be the best selling, and most wished for item on THEIR
site (since they are the only place that sells it), not in general, as iPods
alone outsell them what, 20 to 1?
Amazon is making the Kindle sales sound much better than they are;
its all on how you paint the picture. There isn't any critical thinking
going on nowadays by bloggers so people just report what a CEO
states without questioning it.
