I didn't repeat what Bezos said, Shaz. I've been tracking
Kindle unit sales since it launched and, as explained, based
on a percentage of CE revenues reported, have been able
to keep track, I believe, fairly accurately. My estimates are
lower than most of the analysts out there and likely more
realistic.
Amazon has never reported unit sales. That doesn't mean
it isn't selling well, it means Kindle sales aren't iPhone big.
1.07 million units in two years is not a hyped number.
Of course my previous estimate plays into the current
estimate, because it is an estimate based on analysis of
revenues, not announced unit sales. We can only estimate
because Amazon doesn't report sales.
