"Encryption itself is simple, it?s just mathematics."
And as somebody studying mathematics in Computer Science (and wishing I
could do more coding and less theory) - the mathematics in software
algorithms is some of the most complex mathematics you'll ever see.
That being said: Encryption is pretty much standardized and available
for any platform you can think of. There are a small number of
algorithms that are generally accepted and throughly tested. End to end
encryption is even available: Secure websites have been doing that for
years.
Frankly, they have no excuse.
