Seems like something between a crippled phone with a big screen and a brick

If I am within range of an wireless internet connection, a device running ChromeOS has some value, but if not, it's a dead weight.

My guess is that Google's going to "partner" with AT&T/Verizon/Sprint/whoever and give these devices away for free so long as you sign up for a 2+ year data plan costing some $50 per month from which Google gets a cut in addition to the additional revenue they earn from selling ad's targetted to those ChromeOS users whenever they're looking at their screen.

Personally, I'd rather buy a netbook and pay for a data plan. Then I can install an OS of my choosing that lets me use the client apps I want and need.

No thanks, Google.
