Google, and companies like it, have a completely different business model than software vendors like Microsoft - or OEMs like Apple or Dell.
In the long run, "you get what you pay for" and whether you pay an OEM for a computer with an OS pre-installed or you do-it-yourself and install a "free" OS, you end up committing your time and your money to those choices.
Use what you want but in the end the larger market place decides and, based upon what I've seen so far, I think Chrome OS is "a pig in a poke".
