I have been involved with IT organizations that have flat out refused to hire computer scientists, instead favoring technologists who can grasp the business side of things. IT for too long has been "IT for the sake of IT", and they have the project success rate to prove it. Too many ITers who are content to live in the past and not move the business forward. Like the dot com bust, it's time to show business value for the money.
