hassle and cost
roberto_maietta@... 10th Dec 2009
Its no surprise that costs hamper take-up rates. Nor is it any surprise that when consumers percieve a product to be too painful, they bypass it in favour of simpler offerings.

This has been going on in consumer electronics for years, so its no surprise that the same issues come up in other markets.

I just have to shake my head and wonder how little respect for consumers the vendors must have. Charging "whatever the market will bear" is all well and good, but if execution ITSELF doesnt match the consumer expectatin, there will be a string of broken promises, leaving a sour taste in the mouths of consumers.

I expect that government may just have to intervene when recalcitrant vendors refuse to do right by the consumer. Its a shame, and its an example of a failed system, but vendors have no one to blame but themselves.
