I just recently started a bad experience with Google. For reasons unknown to me, Google decided to permanently disable my Google account which includes all services tied to it. I just started using my Google services again in hopes of taking advantage of calendaring and possibly getting a Nexus phone depending on how well it integrates and eventually ditching my own Zimbra server.
I took a huge step back today. What if this happened to me and I had a Nexus phone all tightly integrated in Google. Now my calendar is gone, my contacts are gone, my e-mail is gone.. YIKES!
Nope.. it may be a cool phone, but if it's tied to Google services, I won't be getting one - at least not for that reason. The iPhone tied to my own Zimbra server is looking like a much more sensible option. At least I'd own my bits.
