4-5M iPads this year??
chefp 9th Feb 2010
The iPhone didn't sell that many its first year (3.3M), and that was a much more revolutionizing product. I just don't see how the iPad will sell anywhere near that volume. These alleged industry reports are nowhere near foolproof. I've read so many mis-predictions that they have almost no credibility in my mind.

The problem for Apple is that the iPhone cannibalizes its iPad sales. Let's face it, the iPad is a big iPhone (or iPod touch if no 3G) with some different apps, apps which are readily available for download on the iPhone. iPad doesn't have the battery advantage of eInk, nor the sunlight readability, so it fails as an e-reader. The biggest obstacle for iPad sales is the existing base of iPhone users. Will they shell out the bucks to own two devices with different screen sizes but with similar functionality? Some people will, but 4-5M? I guess time will tell and prove someone right (and someone wrong happy
