Ok, firstly I use Windows & Linux side-by-side professionally, I'm not religious about either O/S.

Linux is NOT bullet proof, nothing is. However vulnerabilities in Linux tend to be fixed & shipped quicker than in Windows because there is no need to prioritise fixes according to the needs of an individual profit orientated organisation, and because of the repository based update methodology used by Linux, patches can be released instantly & individually, there's no need to wait a month & bundle then up into 'one' patch. And its important to remember that only some Linux patches are security specific, many, probably the majority are simply fine tuning & enhancements to applications.
