How does this help you to sync to any phone? Maybe I'm a luddite, but how about this reason: so you can listen to your favorite music, podcasts, etc., without constantly consuming cellular bandwidth. I prefer the model of syncing what I'm most likely to want to listen to in the near term, with the option to stream other things ad hoc.
