Open PaaS or what Forrester is referring to as Adaptive PaaS is an inevitability. Not only do developer's despise lock-in, they want to be empowered to leverage the application layer of PaaS, and its tools and apps, specific to their business need at the time of deployment. Otherwise, the infrastructure benefits of PaaS only provide a limited ROI. SensorLogic has embraced this approach with Cirrus, its PaaS platform for Asset Tracking that can be also easily extended to existing enterprise apps.
