Mature? Getting a handle on software security engineering? Give me a break! The vast majority of ITSec issues are related to basic access control, policy and poor management process. Sure, there are inherent flaws in some software. However, if configurations and wayward use were brought into line the likelihood of exploit will be far, far less. If practitioners would put aside all their fancy-smancy and expensive ITSec control appliances and layers and layers of complexity, we can deal with both broken promises and the flume of excuses and placing of blame elsewhere.
