You completely omitted mention of the obvious cloud services that companies like Google are trying to seduce users with, which are lacking in basic privacy tools. Is this because Google et al. are completely evil or is it because the security/privacy tools are immature? I think it's both and that it will take a company with Google-sized resources to make progress on privacy. Fat chance that will happen.
