I would argue that Google's hands off stance is the weakest link in the whole Android phone package. All the crashing and weirdness would not be happening if Google had some kind of controls in place that ensure a certain level of quality and usability. Is this loose approach really benefitting the average consumer or just placating developer types and pseudo geeks?
