Windows 7 SP1 will be a minor update. So joining the beta program to suggest architectual changes is not gonna happen, they are likely in stage of frozen code right now.
Joining the program for a free copy is not gonna happen either. You likely will need to have copy of Windows 7 already installed. You should not use it on a production system either since its still beta. If you want a free copy of Windows 7, download the Windows 7 Enterprise 90 day trial.
