I speak with industry professionals (often) and they explain how 2010 is a defining moment to mobility. Not just for the smartphone or the mobile OS but for the mobile operators and their networks.
Cisco's VNI reports that by 2014 mobile internet traffic will be 50 x's what it was in 2009. That is simply a staggering number. The current wireless broadband infrastructure will simply suffocate under that flood of traffic. Mobile operators from T-Mobile to Verizon to AT&T understand this dilemma intimately and are quickly upgrading their backhaul and core networks. Many operators are upgrading to HSPA+ and LTE. These networks will allow the mobile operators to provide better QOS for the subscribers.
