If Microsoft has learned anything from their competitors in the browser market then they will decouple IE releases from operating system releases. Browsers are evolving at a much faster rate than operating systems, so several updates a year as we see from Chrome et.al. should be the norm. Microsoft is currently at one release every several years. That's not nearly enough to stay competitive.
