Corporations should not have to equalize an unequal situation caused by discrimination in the federal and state governments.
All men are supposed to be created equal, according to the Declaration of Independence. We should all be treated equally in the eyes of the law, however today, modern discrimination is taking place against tax paying gay and lesbian citizens. The mere fact that benefits for a significant other of one sex is not taxable, and the other sex is taxable, is in itself discriminatory and a blatantly in violation of the Constitution..
Bravo to Google for equalizing this hopefully temporary situation. But it really shouldn't be necessary if we just removed the illegal bias from the laws created by homophobes and the fanatical extremist Christian right lawmakers.
Equal and civil rights belong to all. They cannot be voted away or legislated away by fallible biased people.
The Supreme Court needs to step up here and right these wrongs-- not Google. But the effort is appreciated!
