Of course there's still hypocrisy. Currently, AP charges $17.50 for a minimum of "up to 50 words." I see no distinction about republishing content. Originally, AP wanted payment for as little as 5 words quoted . It has separate fee schedules for not-for-profit/educational and for-profit entities. Does AP's new stance mean that it thinks it was wrong in the past? And if a site makes money from ads, how does that differ from a newspaper AP member that also makes money from ads? Should the newspaper have to pay for quoting others because it's out to make money?
