They're only making 1,000? Explains why this costs so much. It seems like there are several fabricated parts that aren't shared with other products - so they can't amortize the fixed costs of tooling this parts across a big production run. So it's likely a lot of this $1,200 price is paying for a unique package and appearance, not performance.
