Please spare us the contrasting of "no two are the same yet all are the same" as though it provides some sort of meaningful distinction between the varying ecosystems. They all run Android in flavors the same as iOS devices run it in flavors (even if SJ only wants you to get one flavor - his current fav).
As an iOS dev I can tell you that having to redesign your app graphics every time a new model comes out because Apple decided to force yet another 'improved feature' into your design is no different than having a fractured OS ecosystem - a pain in the @$$.
As to that eye-catching business, I am assuming you mean Android phone shapes as opposed to that exciting new shape the iOS devices come in... and by that I mean rectangular.
Yes, another stunning innovation by crApple - rectangles.
