Not Jump to, but certainly when faced with buying a new TV, if the price differential between a "2D" and "3D" set is negligible, then the "3D" may be more attractive to someone.
We just went through this very process, buying two TV's - one for the bedroom and one for the Family Room. The Bedroom TV replaced a CRT set that was still working fine, the Family room replaced an older generation of HD TV with a new flat panel display. We did not specifically buy "3D" sets because the price differential was too great to take a first generation set.
Had the pricing been closer, then a 3D set may have made sense.
