The iPad wasn't designed to will meet your requirements, but you know that.
Microsoft is uncompetitive in slates. MS still seems to be working on creating downsized tablet PCs (rehashing the past), or making more WinCE variants. It's bizarre. Windows Phone 7 is now missing-in-action.
The big competitor to iPad will be the Android slate. Huge numbers will soon be on the market.
