It's a smart move. Large corporations that have zSeries servers, as well as mid-range and x86 server systems will
benefit from this. Right now medium to large business are
using a lot of kilowatts powering x86 and mid-range(unix)
"server-farms". When the cost of the server-software, applications software, and the personnel to maintain these
systems is added, these costs exceed zSeries costs by roughly 30 %.
I've been in this business over thirty years, and all these
so-called "new ideas and concepts" i.e. Cloud Computing
(Service Centers back in the late 60's and 70's); thin-clients
and desk-top virtualization (Dumb-terminals) remind me of a
"Back to Future" scenario. OR as it's qouted in the Bible
"...There is no new thing under the Sun..."

P.S. The term "Mainframe" needs to be dropped from the Information Services/Technology lexicon.
It's a misnomer, and it's misleading. I've seen z10 servers
that aren't any larger than a top-of-the-line refrigerator.
There are some mid-range systems that consume an even
larger foot print.
